Creating Your First Form

Step-by-step guide to creating a beautiful, conversion-optimized form

Learn how to create your first Tyform from scratch.

Starting a New Form

  1. Log in to your Tyform dashboard
  2. Click the "Create Form" button
  3. Choose how to start:
    • Blank Form — Start from scratch
    • Template — Use a pre-built template
    • AI Generated — Describe what you need

The Form Builder Interface

The form builder shows a live preview of your form as you build it.

Adding Your First Question

Click "Add Question"

You'll see a list of question types. For your first form, try:

  1. Welcome Screen — Greet your respondents
  2. Short Text — Ask for their name
  3. Email — Collect their email
  4. Multiple Choice — Ask a qualifying question
  5. Thank You Screen — Confirm submission

Configuring Questions

Each question has these options:

  • Question Text — The main question
  • Description — Optional helper text
  • Required — Make the question mandatory
  • Placeholder — Example input text

Writing Great Questions

Keep questions short and conversational. One question at a time keeps respondents focused.

Do's

  • Use friendly, conversational language
  • Be specific about what you're asking
  • Add descriptions for clarity
  • Use placeholders as examples

Don'ts

  • Ask multiple things in one question
  • Use jargon or technical terms
  • Make every question required
  • Write long, confusing questions

Form Settings

Navigate to the Settings tab:

General Settings

  • Form Title — Internal name for your form
  • Public Title — Shown to respondents
  • Close Date — Auto-close the form on a date
  • Response Limit — Maximum responses allowed

Submission Settings

  • Confirmation Message — What users see after submitting
  • Redirect URL — Send users to a custom page
  • Email Notifications — Get notified of responses

Saving and Publishing

Auto-Save

Tyform automatically saves your changes as you work. Look for the "Saved" indicator.

Publishing

When ready to share:

  1. Click "Publish" in the top right
  2. Review your form settings
  3. Click "Publish Form"

Your form is now live and ready to share!

Preview Before Publishing

Always preview your form:

  1. Click the Preview button
  2. Go through your form as a respondent
  3. Check for typos and flow issues
  4. Test on mobile view
